It was another steady month for romance and I was really pleased to see such a great variety of books that are being selected by our enthusiastic romance readers. Whether you are a fan of historical romance, contemporary romance, new adult romance, romantic suspense or rural romance, there are many books that you can turn to for comfort in these trying times.

Contemporary Romance

The Sister’s Gift by Barbara Hannay (3 Reviews)

All in all, I can highly recommend The Sister’s Gift. It’s uncomplicated, engaging, and atmospheric, with a satisfying end for all of the characters. If you are seeking a bit of escapism at the moment, then this one is ideal.

Rural Romance

The McCalister Legacy by Nicole Hurley-Moore (2 Reviews)

The plot offers a good mix of drama, mystery and romance, and though it’s fairly predictable, it’s satisfying in that everything is quite cleanly resolved. While The McCalister Legacy is centered on a disturbing event, the villain is eventually exposed and punished, and there is a happy, albeit not perfect, ending for the remaining characters.

Series Based Romance

Maeve’s Baby  – Outback Brides Return to Wirralong, #2 by Fiona McArthur (1 Review)

Maeve’s Baby is the 2nd in the Outback Brides Return to Wirralong series by Aussie author Fiona McArthur and it was a quick read which I found light, entertaining and very enjoyable. I’ve read a lot of Ms McArthur’s work and she never puts a foot wrong. Each of these stories can be read as standalones – this is my first in this part of the series. Highly recommended.

Romantic Suspense

You Don’t Know Me by Sara Foster (1 Review)

You Don’t Know Me by Sara Foster is a great Australian mystery thriller. Alice and Noah each have a troubled past but when they meet in Thailand, they seem to have an instant connection and a whirlwind romance ensues.

Carpe Librum

New Adult Romance

Goodbye Newsroom by Michelle Prak (1 Review)

South Australian based author Michelle Prak released her debut novel last year. Goodbye Newsroom is a story of the bonds of sisterhood, career reinvention, the media industry, romance and adventure, which is presented in a light hearted format.

Historical Romance

The Master’s New Governess by Eliza Redgold (1 Review)

I do love a good historical and MS Redgold hit the spot with this one, a beautifully told story about a governess who had been treated badly by her last employer and she has to change her identity to get a new position with children one that she absolutely loves, I hope you pick this one up and enjoy it as much as I did.

LGBTQI Romance

Never a Saint by Lila Rose (1 Review)

I was excited to receive book #2 in the polished P&P series as I really enjoyed book #1 Wreck Me Forever (review to come). This was another MM romance with one of the main characters never having thought about being involved with another guy. There are a few novels of this trope around at the moment and I am really enjoying them. I like the idea that it’s not always clear cut about who we fall in love with.

Past Pleasure

Long Hot Summer by Victoria Purman (1 Review)

Victoria Purman delivers a red-hot romance centred around the devastating Adelaide Hills fires. What starts as a sweet romance read soon ramps up to an adrenaline fuelled bushfire alert, showcasing a community that has plans in place, working together through fear and worry, saving lives.
