It’s not been that long since you last heard from me but Christmas is approaching and I have a feeling that if I don’t write up this final post sooner rather than later, it just won’t happen. The news has been filtering out, but in case you haven’t heard, from 2022, this website will no longer host a challenge for works by contemporary authors. It will instead focus on 19th and 20th century authors who may not have achieved prominence in their lifetimes, or whose works have been overlooked. You will be able to find out more about this new focus from February 2022, here on the website. I will be shifting my own focus to moderating our vibrant AWW Facebook groups, Love Reading Books by Aussie Women and Australian Women Writers News and Events, which is where you can continue to post your AWW reviews, share your recommendations, and keep track of any events and interviews within the Australian women’s writing scene. If you aren’t already a member of these groups, please do head over and join.
I’m just going to take a look at the year to date in overview for this final round up. In total, for historical fiction with adult as the selected audience, there were 365 reviews entered into the database on 185 books written by 140 authors. A massive thank you to each of you who contributed to that number. Your efforts, not just this year, but over the years the challenge has been running, are warmly appreciated and have made a significant difference to spreading the love for books written by Australian women. Whether you have contributed one review or one hundred, you have made a difference. Thank you.
